Reading Labels Diet Tip

I don't know how this will work for everyone but I am not at a point where I'm strong enough to totally give up sugar but one thing we (as a family) have done is to really read labels and we have almost eliminated High Fructose Corn Syrup after doing some research on the subject I've learned some of what it does to our body and how it increases obesity and diabetes (both run in my family). This is harder than I thought it would be because the stuff is every where from ketchup to breakfast cereals and yougurt :-/ I give myself extra time in the grocery store but I feel it's worth it...
We also try to really adhere to the half plate rule (fill half of you plate with fruits and veggies before you add anything else) it seems to be helping and it's pretty easy...

I know Cathy, we also started to read labels when I started on this.

I did find only one kind of mayo without suger, and ketchup with 50% less sugar. I also found canned corn SF.

Sugar is almost everywhere but you just have to keep looking.

Some cereals aren't bad at all and of course are in between I don't know what brands are available to you but we've found Quaker products to be free of HFCS the do have surgar but at least it's real sugar less processed easier for the body to break down etc... not perfect but a start ;-)
