Beware of tea parties

No, not the politcal kind, but tea parties that involve those cute little, harmless appearing goodies.

I hosted a tea party at my house for my sisters, niece and a friend. We had mini quiches, cream cheese and spinach pastries, mediterranian vegetable phyllo cups, mini sandwiches, mini cheesecakes, mini cinamon balls, and mini cupcakes. So what's the harm in eating all those things. Well, a few there's no problem, but when you are sitting there visiting and having all those minis in front of you before you know it, you've downed quite a lot of minis. By the time I stood up, I was so stuffed. Actually, we all were. We were surprised at how many we ate. Of course the tea was great too.

So, we decided to go to the mall. I thought great! We'll walk it off. Well......we decided to go to the Cheesecake factory for supper after the mall. Uhggg... I split a Thai Chicken pasta with one of my sisters then we split a piece of dulce de leche cheesecake three ways. Splitting a meal was a great idea but the problem with the whole thing was that I wasn't even hungry when we went. Although it was delicious, I really didn't need it.

Today, I told myself I would do better. Well with those leftover mini cheesecakes, I couldn't resist. I popped 2 in my mouth. (Cheesecake happens to be my very favorite of all deserts, second to cinnabons.) So, I decided to make the rest of the day better.

Well, I hosted a cubscout den meeting and guess what.....I had to make them a snack and guess what it was. Mini brownies. As I was taking them out of the pan a couple crushed and before I had a chance to think about it, I popped them into my mouth. Bahm.....just like that more extra calories I didn't need.

I am going to freeze the leftover mini cheesecakes so that I won't be tempted to pop them all into my mouth. The moral of the lesson is that minis can be just as dangerous as regular sized deserts when you eat enough of them.

I weighed myself on Friday morning and I lost 1 pound, but I am not going to give myself points for them yet because of the weekend that I had. I'm hoping that through exercise these next couple of days, I can hang on to the loss. If so, I will have some points to add to my ticker, if not....I will have to try harder.

I'm not a tea drinker. So going to a tea party would not be something I would do unless they served hot chocolate. Yummy! You are right though those extra little treats really do add up. Keep doing your best.

I understand, sister, I understand. I too eat and THEN remember I should just say no or at least wait a little while. If I know you, you will get back up and start again!
