This is a practice post

I have had a good week, altho it seems as though I have such a long way to go. I have been focusing on trying to exercise more, walking especially, and also trying out a fitness gym in the area. I found that I could try it for free for two weeks.

This is my first time posting and I'm not really sure if I am doing it right, but wanted to give it a try. I have been encouraged by reading the journal entries of others. Last week was a big wake-up call for me. I received a call with the results of my bone density and was told that at age 50 I now have osteoporosis. My goal now is to definately incorporate more weight bearing exercises into my daily lifestyle.

When they told me that I should start taking Fosamax for my bones, I started to panic. I have been told that I should not eat chocolate, caffeine or cinnamon when on this drug. Well, you guessed it - I immediately wanted to eat chocolate!! Challenge or not, I had to go to the store and buy my favorite peanut butter M&M's, consuming much more than I should have!! This was not a very good start to the week - hopefully next week will be better.

I am hoping that someone will be able to help me figure out how to do this posting. I am not sure if I am supposed to be Amy, Amy B. or Amy Byron when I list my name. It seems that Amy B. under the active members is linked to the other Amy.
Help!! I feel like all the computer skills went to my sister, Alice (Madridmom) and none to me!! Thanks for your help.

Hi Amy,

Your post came through just fine. Your password is "Amy". You have 5 pts. so far. Is that what it is supposed to be? If not, click on the ticker, then click edit/update, then enter your password: Amy, then put the total points you should have, then click next. It should reflect the change. Then click your browsers back button till you get back to the blog, then hit refresh. It should have changed you ticker to what it should be. If not, email me or Dani. My email is chee65@aol.com.

I hope this helps.

Charlie

Hi Amy,
I'm 50 also. I had my bone density test last spring. It showed that my calcium levels are on the low side. The Dr. wanted me on calcium pills, but I asked if I could go natural with better food choices. He agreed for now. I try to keep a good amount of calcium in my diet. Exercise, I heard also helps. I don't know what Fosamax is. I'll have to go on-line to understand more. Don't panic, stress only hurts your health more. Try to relax, (I know, it's easy for me to say) and maybe your Dr. can suggest some natural ways to help you with your bones. I'll be praying for you!

Amy, great to read your post. I am learning how this works, too. Call me or e-mail me if you need help. I just had a bone density test done, too, but haven't got the results yet. My ob/gyn gave me a list of good foods for calcium and told me what to eat to supplement. I could send it to you if you want. Glad you are out walking and taking advantage of the free gym. Keep up the good work. As the cold weather hits here in New England, it will take more effort! Keep up the good work. -- Cindy

Hi Amy,

You got the posting figured out. Sorry it's such a pain in the beginning. I wish I could make it easier, but once we get it then it runs good.

You are Amy Byron on the labels now, And on the tickers. sorry about the confussion. I will link them appropriately.

Just let Charlie or I know about your points if you can not get them posted on your ticker.

Great job on the exercise! Keep on that. I have heard it does help with the ostio. It is never too late.

Praying for you,
Dani Joy

Hi again. I'm looking for some help from anyone. I would like to be able to get more active with the blogging aspect of this challenge, and earn some extra points. But, for the life of me I can't remember how to access the location to type out a new post.
Thanks in advance.
