I am back!

Hi everyone,

I have some praises and a prayer request. First the praise. Last week I was able to up my walking mileage from 4 miles to a little over 5 miles a day about 5 days a week. I would also do my strength training about 3-4 times a week. I felt really good about being able to do it. Exercising has really helped my stress level.

Now for the prayer request. After my walk on Wednesday, my hip starting really bothering me. By Thursday I had a really hard time just walking around in my house. So, I decided to give myself a break to see if it's all the walking that was causing it. Well after 3 days of no exercise it didn't seem to make any difference. I believe it is some kind of arthritis. About a year ago a doctor told me that I am a good candidate for Rheumatoid Arthritis. So I am praying that if I do have this type of Arthritis that the Lord will give me the strength to deal with it. I need to make an appointment to see for sure. I will probably do this after I come back from my Thanksgiving trip. I guess one of my biggest fears is not being able to walk.

Anyways, I did some research on it last night and found out that walking and strength training is good for arthritis (if one is able to work through the pain). Loosing weight is also very helpful as it helps relieve the joints. So today I decided to do my 5 mile walk and I did okay, the last 2 miles my hip was bothering me more, but I got through it. I also did the 30 day shred when I got back. Praise the Lord that he has given me the desire and strength to go out today and just do it. Right now my hip and leg is bothering me, but that's how it has been at night.

I am determined with the Lord's help to reach my goals.

Thank you in advance for you prayers.

Charlie

Hi Charlie,

I was visiting someone a week ago who told me that he took Shark cartilage pills for his arthritis. I'm not sure if that will help, but you might want to check into it. Great job on walking through your pain. I know when I don't feel well, I don't want to do hardly anything.

Praying for you,
Kathryn :-)

Charlie,

I just read another article about pomegranates that might help with your arthritis. See below.

Pomegranate News Update

Pomegranates are now being featured as one of the hot new "super foods" that both tastes good and is good for you. Nutritional research confirms that pomegranates contain mineral e.g. calcium, potassium, and iron, plus compounds known as phytonutrients, that help the body protect against heart disease, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and cancer. The powerful antioxidants in the fruit also help retard aging and can neutralize almost twice as many free radicals as red wine and seven times as many as green tea. As a further benefit, some researchers suggest that the crunchy seeds help flush fats from the digestive tract.
