Elena´s Devotional Translated

THE WALLS FALL DOWN (JOSHUA 6)

Hello sisters, today I encourage you and cheer me too, with a well-known Bible story for us. It came to mind talking with a friend. Thinking about what I could write to encourage you and I jokingly told her I could write about Jericho and the laps that they had to do (because of the walking and the problem I have with walking). But come to think calmly about it, it´s not a bad idea.

If I had been at that time in that moment, when God sent  the people to do laps around Jericho, what would I have told  the Lord:

- Ooooh! Noooooo. SEÑOOOOOR.  My back hurts and I can not walk far. How do you ask me that?

I guess that Jericho was a very big city occupying many miles. They had to walk a lot, and I am sure it wasn´t just 20 minutes, it was probably much more. Thinking of walking and thinking about the Lord, I wonder how I am ready to get fit for the Lord? And to take those laps around Jericho´s walls to make them  fall?

God wants us to win it like when the walls of Jericho fell. Oh that we Obey by faith and depend on God to be patient and persevering in our decision to get going and in shape for the glory of God and to serve Him better.  Do not forget that as at Jericho, God is with us, among us, turning us together. And thank God we have the victory secured by God. We must not ignore the taunts of the men of Jericho, because I guess they laughed at them to see people play their horns and walk around the city without attacking. Someone was sure to have been discouraged, at some point and thinking it was in vain to walk around the city, but instantly would think of how they crossed the Jordan River, how they crossed the Red Sea. God did wonders for their lives and why can´t HE do it again!

And has HE done wonders in our lives? Just with the fact of having given His life to save us and the most amazing and biggest than ever is that HE rose from the dead, so that we have a hope of eternal life with Him. Tell me if that is not great. It's wonderful!

But besides all that, I know that God has done wonders for me, since I was born and until I am in heaven with him. He has done great wonders in the past, in the present and will continue in the future, because we have a great God, good and merciful. So we should not get discouraged but, move on walking as the People of God did in Jericho. We will finish what God has commanded us to do, to have victory in Him and for Him.

"16 And when the priests blew the trumpets the seventh time, Joshua said to the people, Shout, for the Lord hath given you the city. ...

20 So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets: and it happened that when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, he shouted with a great shout, the wall collapsed. "Joshua 6:16 and 20
