A Springy (Wintry) Hello from Russia

Hello! I'm Tami Jackson, wife to Steve, and mom to 3 precious kids. We are missionaries in Irkutsk, Russia, and might even start to experience spring by the end of this fitness challenge. I homeschool our children, and also stay busy with various ministry activities.

I have been participating in Dani Joy's fitness challenges since her first one. I did the best on my first challenge where I lost 9 lb. and 20 inches. I'm 5'3", and am 37 years old. I am now currently at 115 lb, and maybe would like to lose 3 more. I'm not sure how that will go, as I will also be doing more strength training, which may actually cause me to gain some. I'm hoping to tone more, especially in my hips and thighs. I still need to make progress in that area.

I've enjoyed getting to know many of you through the blog in the past, and hope to meet some more of you soon through your posts.

Here are my current measurements:

weight 52.5 kg
bust 34.5 in.
chest 28.5
waist 27
tummy 32
hips 36.5
behind 38.5
R thigh 21.5
L thigh 22
R arm 10.5
L arm 11

My daughter, Ashley, 13, will be joining me for this challenge. My other little girl, Melissa, 7, says that she is going to exercise with me too.

Hi Tami,

I guess there's quite of few of ust at 5'3". I'm not feeling so short anymore.

I have started adding strength training in my workouts too. I'm finding I love how strong I feel. At first I did gain some weight, like maybe 5 lbs, but now I am beginning to loose again. Strenght training makes me feel very hungry. Now that my body has had time to adapt, I am feeling the difference.

I am looking forward to springing into shape with you.

One of things that I love about this blog is that I get to meet so many missionaries. It's been a real blessing to me.

Really though you know your ideal weight and must be feeling really good having kept it off! I am so proud of you! Priase the Lord!

I am so happy that you and your girls will be working out together on this challenge. How fun it will be to see their progress and love for fitness take form. I am praying for you all!

Dani Joy,

Karate might be fun. I've never done it before, but I did take a judo/self defense class in college and really enjoyed it.

Tami, 115 and you want to lose 3 more? Are you being a bit extreme?!
We're the same age, and I was shooting for 140 and thinking that was great!! That discourages me! :-) I'm still shooting for 140!!!

Donna,

You are doing great! The only reason I have 112 as my goal is that that seems to be my body's "set point." 112 is what I was through high school, college, before kids, after losing the baby weight, etc.. It is what I am shooting for, so if I make it, I make it. I'm not obsessing about it. I've also resolved to be much more careful about eating better and exercising on our next furlough. I gained way too much last time.

Remember each of us is fearfully and wonderfully made, and we each have different body compositions, etc. Mine happens to be one that needs to keep a lower body weight for height and frame size to feel my best.

I'll be cheering you and and praying for you the whole way.

Tami
