Journal update

Hi, ladies! I hope you have been having a good week. Even though I didn't lose any weight last week, I was able to get the extra points each day for an hour of excercise and the 64oz of water. I know I don't normally drink enough (hard because I live on 3 levels!), but keeping track of it this way made me realize how much I need to work on drinking enough. So, I am trying to keep that habit up this week as well. We have finally had a few days of nicer weather here in Germany. On Tuesday it was sunny, though still in the 40's, and instead of concentrating on my own fitness, I decided to include my kids. I knew an hour of walking would be a lot for the boys, but wanted them to get outside!! So, we walked (I pushed Hannah in the stroller) all around the palace that is near us and the gardens surrounding it. It is not flat much around here, so that was extra good for our muscles. Also, in one of the gardens I let Hannah get out and walk a little and played chase with the boys. That way I even got about 20 minutes of running in - they are pretty fast already! So, those of you with kids - try to make it a family affair once in a while. Even though we live in the city, with no yard of our own, I want my kids to grow up having an interest in good excercise and healthy bodies. Have a good weekend everyone!

That’s wonderful that you take your family with you. I’ve been taking my 4 siblings younger with whenever I go on a walk/run. It’s a joy and it’s good for them to get out and move too. It’s motivational for me to run more, because they do like to run in the park.

Isn't it nice to be able to get outside and enjoy some nicer weather? Our family spent the afternoon walking around a town about an hour from us, hiking around some castle ruins and up and down the hilly town cobblestone streets. Good exercise and I am sure I will feel it in my legs tomorrow.
Keep looking for those opportunities to get the kids involved with you in exercising.

Love you comment about the palace, it sounds so decadent but we do have palaces, castles and villas a plenty here in Germany.

Great that playing with your kiddies can be sport.

Good idea getting the kids out and walking/exercising with you. Wow! A Castle! When I walk outside it is to the grocery store that is right in my backyard! I will be in Germany this summer and hope to see some castles. Keep up the good work and enjoy the kiddos!

Definitely, nice to include family time in our fitness. My son will walk with me on occassion and I like to do other fun physical things with him too like hiking. Sometimes we play the kinect together. He now wants to get a heart monitor too so he can see how fast his heart beats when he is playing.

That's great Vicky! I love to exercise as a family. When the kids get older it gets easier to get a good workout while you are with them, but as you say, it is always good for them too. I like to run while Daniel rides his bike. The other day I let him pick the route and it wan's such good exercise for me, but he had fun. Next time I'll pick ;) Enjoy these nice days.

It's great when we can include our family in our exercise, isn't it? The other day I caught my just-turned-3-year-old daughter in the room I use for exercising, standing in front of the little portable DVD player, pretending to exercise. She looked at me, and said, "leave me alone while I exercise!" And I thought, "Is that how she sees me?!" So it is nice to be able to make it a family affair, as you said, and not one where i just want to be "left alone"! :-)

I'm glad you had fun at the park. It is always great to get outside and not stay cooped up in the house.
