Still Springing!

I've been staying busy since my last post. We are working on Level 2 of the 30 Day Shred. I'm not really seeing much of any change in my measurements, but that is OK. I'm hoping it means that I am getting close to where I should be.

During the night Friday, we got a big snowstorm, so Saturday morning, my husband, Steve, son, Andrew, and I went out and shoveled snow. In all we got between 6-8 inches. It wasn't the best time to do it, as the wind was still blowing snow all around, but we had someone who was supposed to come over, so we had to get the driveway cleared. I worked for an hour, and it was an hour of hard work! Steve has back problems, so I try to do as much of the lifting as I can. He pushes the snow to one area on the driveway, and then I lift it and toss it up what will be our flower bed area in the summer. As fast as I would start to make progress on the "snow hill" in the driveway, he would be bringing another load in.

I'm really glad Sunday was my usual rest day, as I don't think I would have had the strength to do much exercise. I was really tired (and sore too) all day, and even fell asleep on the couch after church in the evening.

Monday was back to the 30 Day Shred, and Tuesday as well. This week we have been adding a few extra minutes to get to 40 min, as the 30 Day Shred isn't 40 minutes long. I have been doing the mini-workouts Jillian has from Exercise TV. Today, (Wednesday) Ashley and I rode the bus to town to spend a Mom/Daughter Day together. We had several places to go, and none of them were close, so we got in about 3 hours of walking. I'm going to count just 1 hour, as the time was broken up into several segments. We had a very nice day, navigating puddles of mud and snow, and trying not to slip on the ice. I think we probably walked about 5 miles.

I took my measurements this morning, and the only change was a loss of 1/2 inch to my right thigh.

Wow, good for you for doing Level 2 of the 30 day Shred! I did Level 1 for a LONG time with my husband (maybe 20-30 days just on level 1!) and then we moved on to Level 2... oh my word, that thing was HARD!!! I had to stop the 30 Day Shred for a while because it was hurting my shins too much, but I am sure it is a wonderful workout if you can keep it up!

good for you for taking a rest day. It is good for our bodies to have a day of rest - God sure knew what he was talking about, didn't he?!

Thanks for posting your updates/progress. It is always encouraging to see how others are doing and hear their stories! Blessings to you!

1/2 in on one thigh! haha! that´s so funny to me. I know I shouldn´t laugh but it just tickles me to think you are 1/2 in smaller on one side. jejeje jejejeje hahaha! I am just LOL.

Anyway, sorry! Hope you aren´t offened at my laughing. I hope you are laughing with me.

I'm not offended at all. In fact, when I measured I was like, all that work and only 1/2 inch on one thigh. What's up with that???

Shoveling snow is definitely a good way to get a workout done, you use so many muscles to accomplish the job. We had so much snow this winter, and one day I had to shovel a path from my house to the church door to get to work - it was 14 inches deep at the lowest point and 22" at the highest. Shoveling is not usually my job, but it was still snowing and I had work to do in the office that couldn't be done at home. I am glad I don't have to do it all the time. Just remember that exercise causes fat to turn to muscle, so you won't necessarily see a change in inches, but you will see a change in ability and stamina. Keep up the good work.

I like your posts--So "refreshing"! I guess it's hard to think about spring with so much snow! I have had a few sunny days, and I'm hating the idea of going back to cooler temperatures next week! I'll think of you and you "snow jobs" when it's cloudy and rainy! That's great that you got to go with your daughter. My Andrea loves to go shopping with me these days. The boys don't :)
Have a great day!

I'm sure you are more than ready for your workouts to NOT include shovelling snow. It can't last too much longer.
