One by One
I am just getting to my week 1 post for measurements. As many of you prayed for me to get better, I want you to rejoice with me. Not many days of exercise and not many good meals formed part of my first week. Thus I was plesantly surprised to see the scale had gone down one pound and my waist had decreased by one inch. Still recuperating from my chest that wheezes every time I exert myself, I will plan to do some gentle but consistent exercises this week and concentrate on eating as well as possible. Thank you again for praying.

Kick Off Post
Time to focus on diet this time around. Not just diet for a moment but developing healthy eating habits. I like exercise and I can get into a good routine but I find myself eating more food. As expected food intake parallels activity, but weight maintenance instead of weight loss is achieved. It's going to be tough. I tried while training for the half-marathon and I managed to lose two pounds and I'm eating bad again.
Blogging and accountability will hopefully help me/us develop healthy eating habits. Let's do it!

Week 2: Wednesday Crunch In
Logging in 9 miles this week. I'm tired. I did my measurements and they are all the same. My weight is 127lbs and my waist is 30 inches. I'm averaging 5-6 hours of sleep a night and I'm always worn out. Setting short term goals here: increase sleep, increase water intake, no eating/snacking after 8pm. That's what my goal will be for the remainder and into next week. Blessings to all!

Week 2: Tuesday Crunch-In
Three more days till the local 5K. I had a full 8 hour work day and was exhausted coming home. I just wanted to crawl up in bed and sleep. Of course after getting a small carb fix. I had a snack of almonds and wheat thins. Then I realized it was really time for dinner so I had a serving of leftover stir fried chicken and noodles. Took a short rest and it was off to the gym. 5K run again today! Took me a little over 36 minutes but I was just so exhausted the 2nd and 3rd mile just pushing myself to keep going. It's more mental than physical after the first mile. Did a short round of upper body weight training. I'm ready for some zzzzzz's.
I measured myself today. No change. Weight is also the same. I need to up my vegetable intake for sure and cut down on the "other" foods. Blessings to all!

Week 2: Monday Crunch-In
Today I hit my 3.1 mile running goal (on the treadmill 1% incline) at 36 min. I am going to run my first 5K this Saturday and I know I can do it within reasonable time. Let's just say after mile two my body is screaming for me to stop. I don't like running very much so this will be a goal of will power. It's both a mental and physical challenge. Hopefully my knees and feet cooperate and stay good through Saturday. I also did light weight lifting today but I could tell my body was exhausted.
I still weigh in at 127lbs. The diet is still tough. I'm trying to stick to that king/prince/pauper schedule but I still find myself upping the intake as the day progresses. Calorie counting falls apart at the end of the day as well. There must be an easier way to do this. I tried the Live-strong web link but it's a matter of logging!!!! Keep going. Blessings to all!

Crunch In Starting Wk 2
Procrastinating on the Christmas Crunch Blog is making me procrastinate my diet. There is a reason why Dani planned this during the Food Season. Which is great! I ran 2 miles a day ago and did 15 min on the elliptical. Today I did some weights in front of the TV with my son. Hard to get motivated when he "rules" the TV and I can't put in the exercise video.
My son was battling flu-like symptoms the past 5 days which added an extra challenge to my diet/workout. He is finally well now. And he will be with his father the coming week. Time for me to step up the diet and workout. I still weigh 126-7lbs in the morning and about 128-9 in the evening. No budging on the scale and I know the exact reason. Gotta work on diet. The carb cravings between 2-6p that keep me snacking.
Next Saturday is a local 5K and my goal is to run that 5K and finish it in a decent time. I'm not a runner. I repeat...Not a Runner! My right foot and left knee usually protest in pain. I've worked up to 2 miles and I believe 3.1 miles is possible. I will run a 5K. The next goal may be a 10K before I hit age 40. Blessings to all!

Week 2
My 4yo has been sick with flu like symptoms and I've been out of commision the last few days...but I'm back! Today I did 30 min of cardio on the treadmill and about 45 min weight lifting. The diet was again the kicker. Around 3pm the dreaded munches struck again. I managed to graze on a half a bag of croutons Texas Toast style. And a few other pantry ready foods. Not great.
My friend told me that the "golden hour" actually "golden time", for feeding muscle is within 20 min after weight lifting. No carbs or sugars, just pure protein. His recommendation was a pack of tuna (in that foil zip pouch). Sure enough I tried it after sprinkling in a bit of Tastefully simple garlic dill and it was delicious. Not to mention 0 carbs and 16g of protein 2g fat and a total of 80 Cal! Healthier than a "protein bar" which typically packs half the protein with the extra carbs, fat, and calories.
My weigh-in is 127lbs. So no change from last week. Have to work on eating "clean".

Week 1 (Day 1 and 2: "Be-Snacking")
So the end of day two is here. I am a physician and had a 24hr shift yesterday (off at 7am) on 3 hours of sleep. I wearly hit the gym for a 30min cardio on the elliptical, and 30 min supersets with weights. I was worn out. I ate a protein bar for the morning. Lunch was spinach/cheese pocket. And this is the hardest part: After lunch I fall apart. I had half a suzy Q, a handful of walnuts, popcorn, a bowl of cereal, and sushi (went out for dinner).
3-9pm is the be-snacking hours. The haunting (craving) begins. I graze constantly. Tomorrow will be a new day. Kicking the be-snacking habit!
